Your Stroll arrives early this
week since we got places to be to try and take advantage of the five minutes of
sun and Spring Break. Go figure, a week after
we decide to go primetime we end up just like the weather…all over the board
and extremely unpredictable!
The Division I Stroll…
- Best
game of the week occurred down in University Place where the Curtis
Viking pulled a mild upset of the Bellevue Wolverines. Landon Carr put the team on his back,
leading the way with 4 goals, 1 assist and scoring the game winner with 15
seconds left. Check out the complete recap!
- Four unbeatens left in Division
I league play… the usual suspects, Mercer Island, Bainbridge and Issaquah…
but would you have guessed the fourth? How about Vashon… they have already
matched their 2008 total for wins and currently sit at 4-0!
- You
can find several great photos of local Division I action via Sound Lacrosse
- Mercer Island was away this week as the Islanders
headed to New York
to compete against some top rate nationally rated competition. The trip didn’t go quite the way the
Islanders had hoped as they lost all 4 games, but you can bet the
experience against such great competition will be invaluable in the
Islanders quest to regain the State Championship here at home in
Washington.
- Several
teams on Spring Break this coming week so low number of league games being
played, but several great non-league match ups as both Curtis and Bellevue are out of state competing in Utah and California
respectively.
- Best
match-ups of the upcoming week:
- 4/8 Mukilteo @ Northshore
– Might tell you how Knights would
have fared in DI this season
- 4/9 Curtis @ Alta – Alta is expected to
contend for Utah
state title this season
The D2 Stroll…
·
Only 7 games involving Division II teams
occurred this week as majority of the programs were off on Spring Break. Just like Division I, only four teams remain unbeaten in league play: Mukilteo, Eastside Catholic, Redmond and King’s Way.
- Best game
of the week in Division II ended with the same score as the Bellevue vs Curtis thriller, 11-10 as Mukilteo defeated
Snohomish in a good non-conference contest. However, this one went to Overtime! Mukilteo was able to overcome the loss
of the leading goal scorer in Division II when John Linari went down.
The Knights also overcame a 5 goal performance from Snohomish’s
Nicholas Hund.
- If you
haven’t been able to catch any DII action this season, here are some video
highlights of an earlier season match up between Overlake and Blanchet that was recently posted on You Tube. Can you name that tune?
- Games
to watch
- 4/7/09
- Redmond
@ Snohomish - Can Panthers rebound from tough OT loss to knock off
unbeaten Mustangs?
- 4/9/09
- Stadium @ Tacoma - Always a good one when the public school kids battle
the private school kids in the south end
- 4/9/09
– Eastside Catholic @ Tahoma – Crusaders take their shot at knocking off
a Division I program for first time in program history
Lacrosse The Country…
- Several
WHSBLA alumns are making noise around the
country playing for various NCAA programs.
We thought we would check in and see how all of them are
doing. The name links below provide
some great bios (Caldwell Rohrbach’s picture is
a must see!). The links proved under college will allow you to see current
team stats for the season.

Lacrosse Four Thought…
Who did we miss (any other WHSBLA alumns
playing NCAA ball)?
What WHSBLA alumns are playing MCLA Club ball
around the country?
Where is the best HS lacrosse played; Maryland
or New York?
Why has Curtis attackman, Jamie Yergler yet to appear in a game this year?
Fans Sound Off…
(The best comments from the past week)
“Hey guys, just wanted
to let you know Sunday Stroll is looking good. Keep up the good work!” –
Nathan Wirtz
“You left out a set of
brothers when you mentioned
the Curtis roster earlier. They actually have FIVE sets as I think you left
out the Voellers.”
“Providence will definitely have a high school
lacrosse team next year!” – Nathan Morris
