Okay, well, we failed again to make it by our self imposed 10 am deadline… as we all know lacrosse season is just plain busy… youth games, high school games, college ball, men’s club, coaching, refereeing… we’re exhausted… but we promise to keep doing our best and try to bring it earlier next time (keep your fingers crossed). 

 

The Division I Stroll…

 

  • Mercer Island appears to be every part of the early season favorite scoring 37 goals in two league wins.  The Islanders were the only Division I team to play two league games this week.  Daniel Shields posted 8 points in an 18-3 drubbing of Skyline and 6 more in a beating of Lakeside.  Shields sits well out in front of the league leaders.  Currently in second place… Shields younger brother Matthew.

 

  • Northshore showed it belongs in Division I pulling the first mild upset of the year in defeating Curtis 13-10.  Many have talked about Curtis making the Final Four this year.  The Wisman brothers posted identical stats of 3 goals, 2 assists while Jake Dossett registered 5 points as well, 4 goals and 1 assist

 

  • Seattle Prep won their first game back in Division I after a one year hiatus.  However, the game is a bit under dispute as the lights on Seattle Prep’s field went out while there was still time remaining in the 4th quarter, forcing the game to be called…game ended 9-6 Seattle Prep.

 

  • Best match-ups of the upcoming week:
    • 3/24  Bainbridge @ Northshore –  After upset of Curtis, Northshore will see just how good they are.
    • 3/24  Seattle Prep @ Issaquah – Panthers first true test after beating Eastlake

 

The D2 Stroll…

 

  • Cameron Girgus gets a hat trick for Lynnwood, but it wasn't enough as Roosevelt wins 4-3 in a low scoring defensive battle.  Bobby Walker and Moussa Gloyd both scored twice for the roughriders.  Bobby Walker scores 4 more goals in another close game, this time a 7-6 loss to Nathan Hale.  Lynnwood followed the loss with a 12-5 victory over San Juan.

 

  • Stanwood 9, Whatcom 8 2OT - Tucker Anderson scores the game winner early in the second overtime on a fast break after a good Whatcom possession.  Stanwood had many opportunities to put this game away, going up 4-0 early, letting Whatcom back into it, and 8-5 early in the fourth quarter.  The Warriors wouldn't go away and kept knocking at the door.  Tucker Anderson led all scorers with 4 goals and 1 assist.  Daniel Hernandez led Whatcom scorers with 3 goals.

 

  • King's Way 6, Stadium 4 - Senior Goalie Max Amondson played tough all game, especially late as King's Way was able to hold on after a late barrage of shots from Stadium.  Zach Lindahl scored 3 goals and Jordan Goodspeed added 2 goals and 1 assist for King's Way.  Alex Lineweaver scored 3 of Stadium’s 4 goals.

 

  • Games to watch
    • 3/25/09 - Redmond @ Overlake – Cross town rivals and two of the best teams in DII going to battle early!
    • 3/27/09 - Roosevelt @ Snohomish - This game has all the makings of a great one!
    • 3/28/09 - King's Way @ Tacoma - Could this be another classic between the two?

 

 

Lacrosse The Country…

 

  • Mercer Island’s, Ben York and the Bowdoin Polar Bears got the best of Garfield’s Caldwell Rohrbach and the St. Lawrence Saints by a 10-6 score in NCAA Division III play this week.
