The Division I Stroll…
- Biggest stories from the
week that was:
- Mercer Island remained unbeaten with an
extremely successful trip out in New York. The Islanders knocked off Mahopac
(7-3), Lakeland/Panas (8-6) and Guilder land
(12-5). Sitting at 9-0, Mercer is
now ranked 6th in the West Region of Inside
Lacrosse’s Regional Rankings. The Islanders are also ranked 20th in the West Region in the latest LaxPower rankings, the only team from Washington
in the top 50.
- Issaquah swept its three games in Colorado,
defeating Castle View, Littleton and Columbine.
- Bellevue dropped its first game of the
season in a tough OT loss to Lakeland/Panas,
but rebounded to spank Vashon and remain unbeaten in league play.
- Six teams remain unbeaten in Division I
league play, but only three of these remain unbeaten overall. Can you name the three teams?
- Jake Fritz, JR and Todd
Jones, SR, Issaquah – The duo each scored 5 goals in a win over Littleton
while in Colorado. It was the second
straight 5 goal game for Fritz.
- Standout Stat Lines:
- Connor McLeod, FR, Tacoma
– Pulled the sock trick – 6 goals, in a win over Lake Tapps. The
FRESHMAN followed with a standard hat-trick in a narrow loss to Lakeside.
- Chap Grubb, SR, Overlake
– The senior netminder made a season high 23 saves in a win over Eastside Catholic.
- Michael Rambaldini, JR, Eastside Catholic – 2g,2a and 11 groundballs in leading the Crusaders to
their first league win of the year.
- Jake Fritz, JR and Todd
Jones, SR, Issaquah – The duo each scored 5 goals in a win over Littleton
while in Colorado. It was the second
straight 5 goal game for Fritz.
- Best match-ups of the
upcoming week:
- 4/8 Bellevue vs
Alpharetta – Wolverines take on the same Raiders from Georgia that faced
Issaquah two seasons ago, but this game will be played in Texas.
- 4/8 Puyallup @ Bainbridge – Huge
Southwest Conference match up!
Spartans have lost 3 straight and sit at 2-4 for first time
ever.
- 4/9 Bellevue @ Dallas Jesuit –
Wolverines take on the 8th rated team in Texas on no days rest.
- 4/9 King’s Way @ Bainbridge – We’ll
know shortly if King’s Way is truly ready for the big time or if the
Spartans are still top dog in the Southwest despite their struggles.
- 4/9 Mercer Island @ Issaquah –
Always a good one… first match-up since last year’s State Championship
game.
The D2 Stroll…
- Biggest stories from the
week that was:
- A very light week in
Division II. Providence and
Snohomish both continued to roll as they head into their rematch.
- Though Snohomish did drop
a tight game to a Division I foe in Mukilteo.
- Standout Stat Lines:
- Julian Walls, JR, Port
Angeles – Fitting name for the goaltender that recorded a season’s best
21 saves in a win over South Kitsap.
- Oliver Thomas, JR,
Providence – 3g, 4a and 12 groundballs in a win over North County
- Best match-ups of the
upcoming week:
- 4/6 Garfield @ Roosevelt – Cross
town rivals battle for 1st place in the Metro?
- 4/9 Lake Washington @ Redmond – Kangs took Round 1.
Can Stangs take Round 2 to split the
season series?
- 4/9 Snohomish @ Providence –
Providence looking to redeem themselves and show first time was no fluke.

Lacrosse Four Thought…
Who will pull the next big upset
this season?
Which team has been most
surprising (good or bad) so far this season?
Where should
next season’s state championships be held (if Memorial Stadium goes under remodel)?
What is the most impressive win a
WHSBLA team has ever had against a non-WHSBLA opponent?
We’ll give a shot to the best emails of the week and include your
comments/quotes/etc in next week’s Sunday Stroll.
