The Division I Stroll…
- Biggest stories from the
week that was:
- Another relatively light week as the other
half of the programs took their turn at Spring Break. One quick correction from last week
before we move on, Lakeland/Panas’ victory over Bellevue did not occur in
overtime; it was simply late in regulation.
- Bellevue suffered another tough, close
defeat losing to Alpharetta of Georgia in double overtime. The Wolverines rebounded to take two
games from Texas foes including a 7-3 win over Dallas Jesuit and a
shutout of Plano.
- The Seattle Times People’s Choice Game of the Week lived
up to the hype as Mercer Island clipped Issaquah 9-7. The game was tied going into the fourth
quarter before the Islanders pulled it out. This was the second straight week that
a lacrosse game was selected as the Game of the Week. Make sure to check out your Comcast On
Demand menu as well as this game will soon be available for viewing.
- Scores were closer then maybe many would
have guessed prior to the start of the season, but Bainbridge showed it
isn’t ready to be overtaken just yet.
The Spartans held off Puyallup 11-10 followed by a 9-7 victory over
King’s Way the next night. The
Panthers and the Knights did prove they are playoff quality teams.
- Reminder to check out
plenty of great action pics each week through Sound Lacrosse. Here is a great one of the Mercer Island/Issaquah crowd at Issaquah this past
week.
WHSBLA Division I –
Top 10 Stat Lists

- Best match-ups of the
upcoming week:
- 4/15 Bainbridge @ Bellevue – Spartans
haven’t lost to the Wolverines since the very early 90’s…almost 20
years. Is this the year that
streak ends?
- 4/15 Curtis @ Northshore – Vikings have yet
to be truly tested in league.
Northshore needs this one if they are thinking playoffs.
The D2 Stroll…
- Biggest stories from the
week that was:
- Roosevelt dispatched of
Garfield rather easily to remain one of four unbeatens in DII. They have a match-up looming with
Wenatchee and must face Blanchet one more time so an unblemished league
record may be tough.
- Wenatchee showed it might
be a force as they took down Garfield and kept the goose egg in the loss
column at 4-0.
- The pesky Skagit Valley
Flyers were able to shut down Trey Knowles and didn’t have to face
Cameron Girgus (suspended), but Alex Tindall picked up the slack with 6
pts and Devon Hardwick stepped up to help the Tigers hold off the Flyers
9-7. Lynnwood still seems the
class of DII as the Tigers sit at 5-0 in league and beat DI foe, Eastside
Catholic this week as well.
Girgus, Tindall and Knowles may be too much for anyone in DII to
stop all at one time.
- Lake Washington sits as the
other unbeaten with 6-2 win over Redmond this week. Sammamish at season’s end looks like
the only one with a shot to tarnish their record.
- After the respective
conference leading unbeatens, Providence and Snohomish look like the next
best two. Snohomish took the lead
in that race by knocking off the Highlanders this week. After trailing by two at the end of the
1st quarter, the Snohomish defense went into lock down and
gave up only 2 goals the rest of the way.
The 13-8 victory puts the Panthers in second place in the Cascade
Conference and will get another shot at Lynnwood before the regular
season ends.
WHSBLA Division II –
Top 10 Stat Lists

- Best match-ups of the
upcoming week:
- 4/13 Franklin @ Garfield
– The hottest inner city hoops rivalry takes to the lacrosse field!
- 4/14 Liberty @ Mt. Si –
Two first year program KingCo schools… one will walk away with a program
first ever win!
- 4/15 Gig Harbor @ Port
Angeles - Huge battle for 2nd
place in the Olympic Conference as Port Angeles took the first match-up
by a single goal to start the season.
- 4/16 Wenatchee @
Roosevelt – We shall know shortly whether or not the king of the East can
compete with the upper end of Division II.

We have to admit we are a bit embarrassed that
we forgot some of these guys… the positive thought is that so many WHSBLA

Lacrosse Four Thought…
Who would you most like to see make
the playoffs this year?
Which program has the best mascot
in the WHSBLA?
Why don’t more program stay
active and compete out of league during Spring Break?
What percentage of current WHSBLA
players do you think played organized lacrosse before high school?
Parting Shots…
In response to one of our
thoughts last week: Where should next season’s state championships be held (if Memorial Stadium goes under remodel)?
- “That's easy - hold them at Qwest Field. That event back in 2005 (I
think) was great. Combine it with the girls' game. Add in a pro game.
Then, to really make it fun, hold a true Washington-Oregon championship
the following week. The Californians can sit back and watch us :).” –
